Building that doesn't cost the earth

My aim is to promote the best use of natural ecologically sound building materials to mitigate the environmental impact of the buildings we create & leave a positive legacy for future generations.

Building for the planet

The built environment is responsible for huge amounts of non-renewable resource use each year and accounts for upto 40% of annual carbon emissions.

Working with renewable bio-based materials such as straw,

hemp and locally sourced timber helps to reduce the environmental impacts associated with construction.

Building for health and comfort

We spend more time indoors now than ever before. It is therefore essential that our buildings perform as expected and do not negatively impact our health and wellbeing.

The materials I work with help to create a healthy indoor environment. Natural fibres along with lime and clay work to regulate temperature and humidity helping to eliminate damp and mould prroblems within the home.

Having worked as a joiner and builder on Skye since 2015, my interest and passion for ecologically sound and low energy building has now become the main focus of my work. In 2023 I gained an MSc in Green Building from The Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales, this included extensive research into the challenge of reducing energy use in existing homes in the area. Passivhaus Tradesperson certification has further reinforced my understanding of building to very low energy standards.
